Pamela Ratiu was born in Los Angeles California in 1948 to Suzanne Parkerson and George Abinet. She is of Irish, Belgian, German and Chinese heritage; her mother worked in the field of international hospitality management, while her father was a rancher from Texas.
Raised by her grandparents in Beverly Hills, Springfield Missouri and St. Petersburg, Florida, Pamela studied to be a concert violinist under the direction of Thomas Briccetti. She received scholarships from the age of 12 to study violin at Florida State University and eventually at the Cincinnati Conservatory. At the age of 19 Pamela decided to move to Manhattan and take up drama with the renowned Stella Adler from the historical Adler theater family. The fashion trade took Pamela to London where she became one of the house models for Hardy Aimies, also working for numerous British and European designers. In 1983, Pamela met Demis Roussos whom she married and remained friends until Demis death in 2014. 

She is the 2007 recipient of Woman of the Year Award from Avantaje magazine. In addition, in 2011 she was honored with a medal by His Majesty King Michael of Romania for her work and loyalty to Romania. She is currently executive director to Romania of U.K. registered Ratiu Family Charitable Foundation and of the Ratiu Forum, a project run in partnership with the London School of Economics IDEAS Think Tank, currently ranked leading university think tank in the world. Her expertise covers management, event concept, public relations and partnership development. Pamela has 30 years of experience in international management for both the public and private sector, actively supporting sustainable non-profit organizational development in Transylvania. Pamela joined Ratiu Democracy Centre in 2004 and is currently a Board Member. She has actively supported the partnership with Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in offering the Ion Ratiu Democracy Award to those fighting for democracy around the world.

She has also initiated the Ratiu Dialogues on Democracy, a series of lectures that aim to strengthen discussions and visions on democracy, reuniting professionals with diverse backgrounds who share an interest in current challenges facing Balkan nations, with a particular emphasis on Romania. She is also coordinating the sustainability initiatives run by the Ratiu foundations in Romania to support the local community projects of the Ratiu Democracy Centre. Throughout the years she developed a sustainability ecosystem in Turda, seat of the Ratiu family. This includes social businesses in the field of hospitality and creates local employment opportunities.
